Hertz and Donlen: Reflections on Year One

Last year at this time we were finalizing what was to be one of the most significant events in Donlen history. On September 1, 2011, it was official: Donlen became a wholly owned subsidiary of The Hertz Corporation. I remember feeling many things those few days prior to finalizing the agreement. I was excited, but also confident that we made the right choice for Donlen.

In Hertz, we found a partner whose passion for innovation and exceptional customer service mirrors ours. We found a partner who respects what we built here and allows us to work independently, maintaining our strong culture. And just as we do, a partner who understands how important employee satisfaction is to the overall success of a company.

This has been an incredibly busy year for all of us at Donlen, and I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished as a team. Helping our customers achieve optimal productivity has been a strong focus for us this year, and every group within Donlen has been actively working toward this goal.

The Hertz/Donlen integration team worked diligently to ensure we incorporated seamlessly into Hertz, and with no disruption to you. By examining our combined strengths, they identified significant areas for growth across the organization, and that benefits all of us. Integration work continues today, with a renewed enthusiasm to uncover even more areas of opportunity.

We’ve been working on many new projects only possible due to the strong synergies between Hertz and Donlen. Recently, we launched Hertz Value Lease™ – an entirely new leasing category in the fleet management industry. We virtualized the entire Hertz pool of pre-driven vehicles, making them available to Donlen customers for lease. We’re very excited that we’re about to launch the first international version of FleetWeb® for Hertz China, which will help them achieve efficiency during the vehicle ordering process. You’ll be hearing about several more projects soon, including an electronic compliance-reporting tool for truck fleets.

In July, we delivered Version 2.0 of DriverPoint™ Telematics, which included expanded functionality for advanced analysis, reporting, and driver exceptions. Also launched this year, Donlen Asset Manager™ which allows you to truly integrate every aspect of your operations, giving you greater insight to total cost of ownership.

And I’m proud of our employees who have maintained the highest level of service that you’ve come to expect from Donlen, as we continue our laser focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction.

I am incredibly excited about Donlen’s future. We’ve accomplished a great deal in the past 12 months, and there is much more to come. I feel we’ve only scratched the surface of what is possible between Hertz and Donlen. I’m inspired by the ideas that are brought forth every day, and look forward to sharing more with you in the near future.
